The Trans Taupo is a 44km paddle across the pure mountain fed waters of New Zealand’s (and Australasia's) largest freshwater lake. Open to all single, double, tri/quad and 6 person - Surf Ski's, Sea kayaks, Ocean Rowers, Waka Ama and Stand Up Paddle Boards; this event is the pinnacle of open fresh water paddling in NZ.

Doing the full 44km distance is a real challenge with paddlers taking between 4-7.5 hours to make it shore to shore, but there are other easier options including just doing the second half of the course (19km) or competing in a team relay challenge 25k and 19k).

Stand Up Paddle Boarders - you guys and gals get a boat ride to the middle of the lake then paddle 20km downwind.
